October 2011 - Local Athlete Sponsored
Healthyway is proud to sponsor a local athlete who is excelling in the sport of running. Stephanie Trendholm, originally from Campbell River, is running for the UVIC Vike’s Track Team. We have assisted her by donating several months worth of supplements that she frequently uses. She uses several supplement including: a multivitamin, EFA’s, Zyflammend, VEGA whole food health optimizer, and Sport Optimizer to enable herself to train harder & recover faster.
Some of Stephanie’s accomplishments include:
- Posted a personal-best time and set a Western Canada Games record, running the women's 1500-meter in 4:27.86 to capture gold.
Stephanie’s goals for the upcoming season are:
- CIS National Cross Country Championships, November 12, Quebec
- CIS National Indoor Championships, March 8-10th.
- National Outdoor Championships, June, Calgary
- Month in Europe for racing experience
October 16th 2011 - World Food Day
This year we matched customer donations from the 14-16th for the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. Together we were able to give $435 to Soup Kitchen co-ordinator. The soup kitchen has one paid coordinator and then operates solely on volunteers. They have a small budget but rely on food donations to feed a minimum of 80 people a hot lunch 5 days a week. They sometimes open their doors at night when shelters are full and try to provide a bowl of soup for dinner on those occassions. As a business we contribute on a weekly basis to the soup kitchen by giving culled produce, day old sandwiches, bread, & milks. It feels good to give the kitchen the opportunity to stock up on good quality food that will be put to good use. The donation is in the form of a Healthyway credit for grocery or produce at a wholesale cost. Thank you to everyone who donated & thank you to the volunteers who give of themselves.
